Wallace Cordeiro
Wallace Cordeiro’s work looks at movement, memory, and emotion through painting and drawing. The Trópico series grows out of an attempt to depict an intense natural state, where the body, landscape, sweat, sun, and desire blend into one another. The images come from repeated gestures and remembered moments, gradually loosening clear forms until they become more fluid and organic.
Homoerotic elements appear quietly, pointing to delicate relationships and feelings that are often left unspoken. Connected to the theme Obscured Organisms, the series reflects on loss and erasure of memory, body, and presence, while resisting direct explanation. Each work carries traces of the previous one and leads into the next, inviting slow, attentive viewing and leaving the images open, somewhere between lived experience and uncertain recollection.
