Sarah Stifter
Sarah Stifter’s work is driven by an interest in the strange overlap between everyday reality and its surreal undercurrents. Her paintings bring together perceived reality and dreamlike imagery, creating worlds that appear seductive at first glance but reveal darker, more unsettling truths over time.
Through irony, discomfort, and at times cynicism, she addresses deeply human emotions and experiences, aiming to sharpen attention toward what often goes unnoticed. With a background in media design, Stifter uses digital tools to fragment, recolor, and reassemble photographic material before translating it into painting. This process allows her to make the invisible visible, using paint to give form to the existential tensions and contradictions of being human.
