Misha Waks
Misha Waks is an artist whose work combines art and activism, exploring social, ecological, and human rights issues. His series Obscured Organism focuses on young men made invisible by environments of violence, poverty, and systemic neglect, using covered faces, blank expressions, and minimal compositions to reflect erasure and anonymity.
Working in acrylic and spray paint, Waks merges traditional painterly techniques with urban visual language, emphasizing body and gesture against stark backgrounds to convey isolation, survival, and alienation. The work arises from both personal experience and social inquiry, aiming not to judge but to understand the forces shaping these lives, turning painting into a tool for empathy and reflection on trauma, inequality, and exclusion.
